Arahina After School Programme
We offer children the experience of both indoor and outdoor activities designed to build self esteem and skills necessary to deal positively with life. Activities can include farm visits, bush craft, swimming, gardening, exploring the Taieri, baking, board games and other fun activities that encourage communication and conflict resolution skills. Children are supervised by one adult to every five children.
Programmes run from 3pm - 5pm. We collect children from Elm Grove and Silverstream Primary Schools, as well as Taieri College. Children are delivered home between 5 - 5.30pm. We ask for a donation / koha per child, per session to help cover costs. If you would like more information, or would like to book a space for your child on this programme, please contact us on (03) 489 5273
Programmes run Monday to Wednesday for years 1 to 6, and Thursdays for years 7 and up. Children are collected from their schools and safely delivered home by our staff.
Arahina Holiday Programme
Children enjoy experiences that they might not otherwise have throughout the year. We focus on outings that are low or no cost so they are accessible to families. Previous outings have included trips to Toitū, visits to Waihola for a swim and a picnic, and exploring the outdoors with walks and adventures. The programme also makes use of the facilities at Arahina, with afternoons spent cooking, baking, painting, making crafts and playing games. The staff to child ratio on our holiday programmes is never more than 1:10.
To help meet the costs of these programs we ask parents for a koha.
For more information about the holiday programme, please phone (03) 489 5273
